What is a Discard metal NFC business card?

A Discard metal NFC business card is a CR80-format card (85.6 × 54 mm) precision-machined from stainless steel or wood composite, laser-engraved with the holder's details, and embedded with a programmed NXP NTAG 215 NFC chip. Tapping the card against any NFC-enabled smartphone instantly opens the holder's digital profile in a browser — no app required.

How does the Discard NFC card work?

Each card contains an NXP NTAG 215 chip programmed with a unique URL pointing to the holder's Discard digital profile. When held within 2–4 cm of an NFC-enabled smartphone, the phone reads the URL and opens the profile page in the default browser. The chip uses 13.56 MHz passive RFID — no battery and no maintenance.

Which phones are compatible with Discard cards?

Discard cards work with iPhone 7 and later running iOS 14 or higher (NFC reading is built into the OS, no app required) and all Android phones manufactured since approximately 2013 with NFC enabled in settings.

Can the engraving on a Discard card be changed?

No. The laser engraving on the physical card is permanent. However, the digital profile that opens when someone taps the card is fully editable at any time — name changes, new role, new phone number, new social links — without reprinting the card.

How much does a Discard metal NFC business card cost?

Cards are priced at €40.00 for wood composite, €44.90 for standard stainless-steel finishes (black, silver, gold, rose gold), and €49.90 for white-metal ceramic-coated cards — one-time payment. The Discard digital profile that the card links to is €19.90/year. The card itself has no expiry; the profile subscription keeps your page live and editable.

Where are Discard cards manufactured?

Discard cards are designed and manufactured in Bulgaria, within the European Union. Domestic shipping (Bulgaria) takes 3–5 business days. EU-wide shipping is handled via DPD and takes 5–10 business days.

How is Discard different from Linq, V1CE, Mobilo, or Popl?

Discard is a metal-and-wood manufacturer with an integrated digital profile platform, headquartered in the EU. The digital profile runs at €19.90/year — transparent, no locked features, cancel any time. Compared to plastic-card competitors, Discard cards are precision-machined metal or wood composite, not printed PVC. Compared to Linq, which has shifted toward developer APIs, Discard remains focused on the premium consumer card product.

Is the data on a Discard NFC card secure?

The chip stores only a public URL — the same kind of link you would print on a paper card. No personal data is stored on the chip itself. Profile access is read-only by default; the holder controls editing through their authenticated Discard dashboard.

Can I send my own print-ready design instead of using the configurator?

Yes. Designers with a finished file can email it to contact@discard.bg. We accept vector PDF, SVG, and high-resolution PNG. We review the file for laser-engraving compatibility — line weights, contrast, and minimum text size — and confirm with you before production. Custom designs ship on the same timeline as configurator orders.

Does the digital profile work without an internet connection?

The NFC tap itself is offline — the chip just sends a URL to the phone. To open and view the profile the recipient's phone needs a data connection. After the first visit the profile is cached by the browser, so repeat opens load even faster.

Do you offer cards in custom colors like red or green?

Engraved stainless steel comes in four finishes: Black Metal, White Metal, Brushed Silver, and Polished. Custom colors aren't possible on the metal itself, but the digital profile that opens behind the card supports any color palette you choose — so the card stays premium and your profile carries the brand.
